Important Update From Mrs Menis
5th January 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your patience and understanding today, whilst we have been adjusting to the new situation, in which we find ourselves. Staff have worked hard today to make the necessary changes.
Who can attend school?
As of Tuesday 5th January 2021, we are open for pupils, who have at least one parent, who is a critical worker, based upon the list published today: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision#critical-workers
Ideally, children should not be in school, if they can do their learning at home. This will help reduce possible transmission of the coronavirus.
In addition children, who have a social worker, or an Education Health Care plan can also attend school each day. School times will be 9am to 3.10pm.
How do we book in-school provision?
Your child’s teacher will have a booking form for you to book the days you require. Please ensure children attend school for full days to enjoy all the learning activities on offer each day.
How is learning being organised?
The children will continue to learn in their year group bubble, either in school or at home. The learning on offer will be the same and will keep pace, so that children learning both ‘in school’ and ‘at home’ can seamlessly move between the two. One teacher from the year team will be working remotely and one will be offering face-to-face learning in school. This will change each week.
How do we access remote learning?
Each week, on a Friday, your child’s class teacher will send out a timetable and the learning materials for the following week. We will be making paper materials available, if these are needed, for collection between 1pm and 3pm on a Friday.
We are mindful that many families have one device at home and so we have attempted to spread out the scheduled remote learning sessions. Each year group will have the opportunity to have two live learning sessions each day as well as activities set out that they can complete at home.
Are Breakfast Club and After-school Club still running?
We continue to run both Breakfast and After-school Clubs each day. Please book using the booking form, which is available from your class teacher or the school office. Breakfast Club (7.45am to 8.45am) is £2.50 per day and After-school Club (3.00pm to 5.00pm) is £6.00 per session, which rises to £10.00 for collection by 5.45pm.
On behalf of the staff team, I wish you all a happy new year. We hope you stay safe and well. We look forward to seeing you back with us soon.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Karen Menis
