Carle Class (Reception)
Welcome
Hello and welcome to the Carle class. Helping the children with their learning this year is Miss Collings and Mrs Warwick (Class Teachers), Mrs Robinson (Teaching Assistant) and Miss Solomon (Teaching Assistant).
The Carle class is named after the wonderful author Eric Carle, who wrote the very well known story The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Weekly Timetable
PE/Forest School
Please note that the children will either be having a PE session or Forest School on a Wednesday, so please remember to send your child into school dressed in their full PE kit on this day. Please ensure your child has their coloured PE top, PE hoodie, PE bottoms, hair tied up and jewellery removed on this day so that they are ready and safe to take part.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Our Super Six
Every term we have six key texts that we share with the children. These are called our super six. These will all relate to a particular theme and form the backbone of our learning for that term.
Super Six - For example: Term 1
Home Learning
We encourage children to read and share books as often as possible. Reading daily really does support the progress that the children make. You may want to share a reading for pleasure book or your child's school reading book. They would love to show you how well they are doing with their reading. Our expectation is at least 3 reads a week at home.
Children should be learning their letter sounds daily at home. These are recorded in reading records so that parents know what sound to focus on.
Our Learning in Action
The children worked really hard in phonics today. They made words from magnetic letters and then read them back using ‘Fred talk, read the word’.

This week we have looked at what forces we need to use to make toy cars move. We then experimented with rolling cars down different slopes.

Music - This week we have been reading the story The Friendly Snail. In the story, Posy is very noisy and Pip wants her to be much quieter. In music we have been exploring how to make loud and quiet sounds.

Phonics - This week in phonics we have started to write our letters using the special Read Write Inc rhymes. Fantastic writing, well done!
