Jeffers Class (Nursery / Reception)
Welcome
Hello and welcome to the Jeffers class. Helping the children with their learning this year is Mrs Maher (Class Teacher), Miss Rice (Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Drewitt (Apprentice).
The Jeffers class is named after the fantastic author Oliver Jeffers, who has written wonderful picture story books for children which explore themes of friendship, independence and imagination like the lovely stories 'Lost and Found' and 'Up and down'.
EYFS Curriculum
Our Super Six
Every term we have six key texts that we share with the children. These are called our super six. These will all relate to a particular theme and form the backbone of our learning for that term.
Super Six - Term 1
Home Learning
We encourage children to read and share books as often as possible. Reading daily really does support the progress that the children make. You may want to share a reading for pleasure book or your child's school reading book. They would love to show you how well they are doing with their reading. Our expectation is at least 3 reads a week at home.
Children should also be learning their letter sounds daily at home. We share which sounds have been introduced on our weekly homework sheets which have links to the Read Write Inc website.
Our Learning in Action
We have had a lovely time meeting and playing with our new friends!
We shared the story: Pip and Posy - The Friendly Snail and learnt about how to be kind to one another! Pip gave Posy a great big hug and we enjoyed giving each other hugs too!
