At Shakespeare, our pupils' reading journey begins on day one in our Early Years and is built upon progressively through Key Stage One and Key Stage Two.  We know that pupils who read accurately at the age of 6 are more able to access the school curriculum and therefore go on to reach their potential at primary school and beyond.  Fluent readers are able to learn more because they can read and gain more knowledge for themselves.  

It is our vision that every pupil reads accurately and fluently, has access to a rich and varied library of books that stretch their imagination, knowledge and love reading.
