Training and professional development

We ensure that all staff have the expertise needed to support all children with their reading development. 

In February 2022, we had a whole school training day for Read Write Inc which has ensured that all staff follow the RWI guidance closely in order to have a fidelity to the program.  In addition, continued, on-going support is being provided by RWI in addition to Illsham English Hub with the latest support being given in September 2022.  This continuing development is allowing us to build up our expertise further ensuring every child gets the best possible support.  

We have a coaching model in school which means the Reading Lead is able to monitor and support staff during the daily phonics sessions which ensures all lessons are of a high quality and all children can make good progress.
