RE Day - Eid al Fitr

We learnt how many Muslims celebrate Eid. We spoke about Ramadan and celebrations that take place. We decided to make our own decorations. See below. 

Science experiment

We did an experiment to find out about the changing states of matter of solids and liquids. The children really enjoyed the chocolate experiment... See photos below!

Visit

We had a visit from Devon and Sommerset Fire and Rescue Service. We learnt how to keep safe and what we can do in the event of an emergency.

Year 2 trip to the Islamic Centre

As part of our RE learning about Islam, we visited the Islamic Centre. We learnt about the Five Pillars of Islam and how Muslims pray. Take a look at our photos below.

Christmas

We had had lots of fun making Christmas cards,  decorating gingerbread man and we even had a visit from Santa himself!

P.E

On a wet PE day, we practised our balance skills in the seated position. We had to keep our bottoms on the floor and our tummy’s tight, maintaining a straight back. We explored using 1 arm and even 1 leg to pass objects to our friends. It was tricky to balance at first and we had to work hard in a team. We had lots of fun!

Diwali Day 1/11/22

Today, we learnt about Diwali. Miss Sweet read the story of Rama and Sita and we had many discussions about what many Hindus, Sikhs and some Buddhists do to celebrate the festival of light. We decided to make our very own Rangoli patterns using the colourful autumn leaves. We were so excited about this that we even chose to continue or learning at break time and made Rangoli patterns using chalk. Take a look below.....

RE in Term 1- Who is a Muslim and how do they live?

We have been learning about how The Prophet Muhammad, told stories to give guidance to Muslims. This week we learnt the story about The Crying Camel. Below is just a couple of examples of the amazing work we completed.

Computing in Term 1

This term we have been learning about Internet Safety. We have learnt that we should only take photos of people if the person is happy with the photo being taken. Once the photo was taken, we asked the person if they were happy with the image or if it should be deleted. We all enjoyed taking pictures of each other.
