A fabulous day of learning was had within Year 4, with many of the children dressed in Roman attire.
Our guest visitor, Oly Martin working in conjunction with the Royal Albert Museum in Exeter, spoke to the children about the Roman times and shared a huge collection of interesting Roman artefacts, including perfumes, weapons and jewellery. He gave lots of information about day to day life as a Roman citizen.
In the afternoon, the children re-enacted a Roman battle on the field, using shields they had made in class the previous week.
Some photos of our brilliant day can be found below.
A very special day has been arranged for the children in Year 4.
On Tuesday 4th October, a historian and Roman expert will visit the school and spend the day with the children. A letter has been sent home detailing the exact plan for the day.
The children are invited to dress as a Roman character for the day. Mrs Tucker and Mr Hart have sent home an information sheet explaining how to make a simple, no sew tunic. We hope this helps!
