Kevin Miller - Chair of Governors
Term: 01/05/18 - 30/04/22
I would like to introduce myself as Chair of Governors for Shakespeare Primary School.
I have served on the Governing Body of Shakespeare Primary School since January 2018. I was elected Chair of Governors in November 2018.
My role is to work closely with Mrs Menis, the senior leadership team and the wider school community to ensure that Shakespeare Primary school is the very best school it can be. The role of the Governing Body is to provide both challenge and support across the school community so that children can achieve the best outcomes.
As Chair, I also provide a link between the local Governing Body at Shakespeare and the Learning Academy Trust, which Shakespeare joined on 01 April 2018. I want to ensure every child has a happy and positive experience throughout their education at Shakespeare and I shall always prioritise and champion Shakespeare’s interest and those of the children at the school.
Outside of school, I run my own business in Plymouth and have worked as a Human Resources [HR] Director in different organisations for 20 years. A lot of my early career was spent in Local Education Authorities doing HR work, so I am very used to working with different professionals in schools. In my professional role I help organisations to succeed through their people so there are many transferable skills I can bring to my role here at the school.
I am fortunate and privileged to work with a dedicated team of fellow volunteer Governors. The Governing Body is very active within the school community and bring a wide range of skills and experience to support the school. Teamwork is at the heart of what we do here at Shakespeare.
I believe in open communication so that parents and carers are kept regularly informed about the work of the school. This is a fantastic school but together we should always strive to be even better. I hope to meet many of you around the school and if you have any questions for me, I am always happy to have a conversation and can be contacted via the school.
